LC Doris Fok consultancy experience:

Doris Fok became the first International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) in Asia and Singapore. During her seven-and-a-half years as the first IBCLC at a local maternity hospital, Doris set up its Lactation Services division, after which she left in 1998 to set up her independent practice. With a wealth of experience, 2009 marks the 25th year for Doris in helping mothers to breastfeed.

Doris has since worked with UNICEF and WHO, and made various contributions in the area of breastfeeding training and research in different hospitals and countries such as China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Australia, Canada, and the United States. She has written breastfeeding related articles and research in various journals, newsletters and magazines. She has also been involved in numerous video productions and media interviews over the radio and newspaper.

In the past, Doris sat on the board of the International Board of Lactation Consultants' Examiners (IBCLE) and also served as the Asian Ambassador to the International Lactation Consultants' Association. Now, she employs her knowledge in the field of research, focusing on breastfeeding, human milk and lactation (breastfeeding).

On the local front, Doris serves as a trainer with the Breastfeeding Mothers' Support Group (Singapore) for 19 years, and also as a counselor for 21 years. Doris also serves in different capacities and is a member of the La Leche League Singapore.

She has been trained in Australia, U.K. and the USA in lactation management, baby-friendly hospital education and assessment, and suck-training. She and is available for professional breastfeeding consultation on appointment basis.
